The Bridge has developed partnerships with a variety of community organisations - and we're always interested in hearing from more! Our membership comprises students from all of the University's faculties, and other interested individuals, and amongst us we have diverse skills, knowledge and interests. When considering working with us, please keep in mind our main principles:

• We are an apolitical organisation - we don't participate in any campaign work or advocate any political views
• We are non-religious - while some of the organisations we work with are religiously affiliated, we are not, and we avoid projects that have a strong or dominant religious aspect.
• We generally seek hands-on volunteer experience, where volunteers can get directly involved with the community, rather than fundraising. However of these three principles, this is the most flexible.
• Also, we have found the following factors present in our most successful projects:
• Students' time is valued, and they have sufficient training and support to make a valuable contribution always have the highest volunteer retention and enjoyment.
• Projects run within the semester (not including study break and exams), or one-off projects. These are easiest for students with ever-changing timetables to commit to.
• Group projects, for example involving 4-10 volunteers, tend to get great responses, as in addition to having peer support in new environments; volunteers also gain social benefit from coming along.
• Low or no cost.
• Easily accessible by public transport.
